Migrate from Chaverware to ShalomCloud
If your congregation is moving off Chaverware, you have a real choice to make — and it’s worth taking a careful look before defaulting to the most familiar name. ShalomCloud offers equivalent core functionality at a fraction of the cost, and we’ve helped many congregations make the switch smoothly.
Why ShalomCloud
When Chaverware clients evaluate their options, the conversation usually comes down to two questions: will the software do everything we need, and what will it cost? Here’s how ShalomCloud compares to ShulCloud, the platform most often recommended to migrating congregations:
| Feature | ShalomCloud | ShulCloud |
|---|---|---|
| Member management | ✓ | ✓ |
| Yahrzeit notifications | ✓ | ✓ |
| Donation tracking and acknowledgements | ✓ | ✓ |
| Statements and tax letters | ✓ | ✓ |
| Batch billing | ✓ | ✓ |
| Online payments | ✓ | ✓ |
| High Holiday seating | ✓ | ✓ |
| QuickBooks integration | ✓ | ✓ |
| Cemetery management | ✓ | ✓ |
| Member portal | ✓ | ✓ |
| Member directory | ✓ | ✓ |
| Text messaging | ✓ | Add-on |
| Resource booking (conference rooms, etc.) | — | ✓ |
Pricing
For a mid-sized congregation, ShalomCloud costs $54/month with standard support (ticket-based, response within one to two business days), or $108/month with priority support (phone, response generally within two hours). By comparison, ShulCloud’s equivalent package — which includes the same core features ShalomCloud provides: batch billing, pledge management, and tax and billing statements — is priced at $289.99/month. At our standard support tier, that’s a difference of $235.99/month, or over $2,831/year — every year, in perpetuity.
What to expect during migration
Converting from Chaverware to ShalomCloud is a structured, low-risk process:
- You’ll make available to us the Chaverware backup file. We’ll work with you to identify its name and location.
- We convert that file into ShalomCloud, a process that takes about two weeks. This is your “Round 1” conversion.
- While we work, you continue using Chaverware without interruption.
- In parallel, if you’d like us to bring over existing correspondence — Yahrzeit notifications, donation acknowledgements, and similar documents — you send those to us and we’ll house them in ShalomCloud.
- Once Round 1 is complete, we schedule a review meeting to go through any questions or issues that came up during conversion.
- We then agree on a “pencils down” date. You send us the final Chaverware export.
- Within one to two days, we complete the “Round 2” conversion and you’re live on ShalomCloud.
A Note on Differences
Mobile app: ShulCloud offers a native iOS and Android member app. ShalomCloud’s member-facing screens — event registration, contribution portal, and member portal — are fully responsive and work well on mobile browsers, but are not packaged as a downloadable app from the App Store or Google Play. For most congregants, the difference in day-to-day experience is minimal. For congregations where a branded app is a priority, it’s worth factoring into your decision.
We believe in being straightforward. ShalomCloud does not currently include a resource booking system — the ability to reserve conference rooms or shared spaces for internal scheduling. If your congregation relies heavily on that feature, it’s worth factoring into your evaluation. For the large majority of congregations, the core administrative workflows — member management, finances, Yahrzeits, High Holidays, and communications — are all fully covered.
