Step-by-Step Guide: Connecting ShalomCloud to QuickBooks Online
- Initiate Connection to QuickBooks Online
- Begin by declaring your intent to connect to QuickBooks Online.
- A switch is flipped to indicate that you’re on QBO.

- Log into Shalom Cloud
- Once the switch is flipped, log on to Shalom Cloud.
- Navigate to the financial section, then to financial transactions.

- Authenticate QuickBooks Connection
- On your first visit to financial transactions, a screen from Intuit will prompt for your QuickBooks user ID and passcode.
- Select the company you wish to connect to.

- Establish Connection
- If successful, a message confirms that the connection is established.

- Configuration of Financial Categories
- As soon as possible, access configuration financial categories to import categories from a spreadsheet.

- Prepare the Spreadsheet
- Ensure the spreadsheet is filled out before flipping the switch to minimize the gap between connection establishment and posting to QuickBooks Online.

- Key Spreadsheet Columns
- Understand and fill out the important columns such as tax, donor flag, description, type, public, tran code, etc.

- Specify Accounting Method
- For cash-based accounting, leave Debit on Charge and Credit on Charge blank.
- For accrual-based accounting, specify accounts for debit and credit on charge.

- Starting from Scratch or Conversion
- If starting new, fill out the spreadsheet. If converting from QuickBooks Desktop, export existing data for use.

- Enable Document Number Feature
- Under Home, Declare Synagogue Options, enable the feature to auto-generate a document number.

- Completion
- The initial setup begins with flipping the switch indicating you’re on QBO.
